As the New York Jets fell to 4-10 with a loss to the Houston Texans, we take a look at the performance of the two team faces, Sam  Darnold and Jamal  Adams.

It was a hard-fought game by the New York Jets against the Houston Texans on Saturday. They took the lead late but in the end Deshaun Watson and company were just too much.

30. Final. 29. 10. 22

It ended up being the 10th loss for the Jets, but it was nearly the second straight game-winning drive for Sam Darnold. Wtih 12:27 remaining in the game, the Jets took over at their own 27, down 19-15.

Fifteen plays and 73 yards later Elijah McGuire scored from two yards out to give them a 22-19 lead with five minutes to go.

Unfortunately it didn’t stick. The defense, which had stood tall all day, crumbled on the ensuing drive, and the Texans went 73 yards on seven plays. A 14 yard touchdown from Watson to DeAndre Hopkins gave the Texans the lead to stay.

A field goal put them up by seven and that was it.

The defense gave the Jets a chance to win for three and a half quarters. It just goes to show that the Jets must develop the weapons around Darnold to take that next step. Without Quincy Enunwa, he had Robby Anderson, Christopher Herndon and not much else to work with.

Running the ball wasn’t likely against that front, and it didn’t go very well as the Jets were only able to net 90 yards on the ground.

Jason Myers missed two extra points but with the season that he has had, it’s hard to get on his case too much.

The offense looked like a group that was revitalized with Darnold back in the lineup. Anyone who still felt that Josh McCown should have been the starter likely saw the end of their argument.

This week, we are going to recap the game in more detail with the Sam and Jamal reports. We talked before the game about the fact that they were the only real reasons to watch in a lost season.

So how did they do? Let’s find out.
