New York Giants: 3 reasons why the Giants can beat the Titans
Saquon’s ability.
It might be a fact at this point that Saquon Barkley gives the Giants the best chance to win football games. When he is on the field, the Giants are the better team.
However, when diving in deeper, the Titans are team that shows just how good Barkley is and they have yet to even play this game.
How so? Well, because the Titans offense is set up in a certain way.
The Titans are a dynamic offense that is built around the dynamic, but limited skill set that their QB Marcus Mariota has.
However, Eli Manning is not spectacular in that department either. So, that battle almost even out.
Where the Giants have the edge is in Saquon. Not just because he is the best running back on the field either
The Titans use two running backs. Not every play, but two that are featured often enough to be considered important.
One of them is Dion Lewis. From my observations, he is more of a dual threat. Can catch passes and create and work well in space. He is not a run up the gut type back.
The Titans also have Derrick Henry. He is coming off a week where he went viral for a monster game against the Jaguars.
He is more of a power runner who can truck people and is tough to take down.
See where I am going with this?
Saquon Barkley is both Lewis and Henry. Saquon can muscle up the gut for three or more yards any play but can also play in space and be a receiver hybrid.
The Titans are creative in what they do. Their running attack is solid enough to be 12th in yards on the NFL.
The Giants rank 22nd, so are worse. But, the point is, the big play. Saquon and the Giants way of doing things is not as effective at times, but it is efficient.
The Giants have a go to guy who can make any play and do anything you need from him to do his job.
The Titans have more options, but are in my opinion less reliable as players.
Of course, the Giants should worry about Derrick Henry, he can be a beast. And the Titans can be pesky.
However, the Giants have the best player on the field in Saquon. He is the playmaker. He has done the most with less.
The Giants will win this game is Saquon gets going. He can do a lot of what the Titans need two players to do.
Naturally, this kind of stuff works more or less on a week-to-week basis, but in Met Life Stadium where the weather and field position will be key, I will take Saquon over either Titans running back to make the big play in a heartbeat.
