New York Islanders: 3 stars of from the first 30 games of the season
The New York Islanders are already 30 games into this up and down 2018-2019 season. By the new year, they will almost be halfway done. But, who has been the best so far?
The New York Islanders lost to the Vegas Golden Knights for the first time ever on Wednesday night.
That particular game seems insignificant in a series of many in a long and grueling season. However, that loss in Barclays Center wrapped up their 30th game of the year.
So, who how have the 30 games gone?
Well, it is easy to make swooping generalizations.
For starters, at least the Islanders return to play regular season action at Nassau Coliseum. That venue is the MVP of the Islanders’ season so far.
But, with Barry Trotz at the helm, we all figured that things would take some time. He needs to incorporate his hockey system and the Isles need to figure out how to win with this core of talent.
With this, the Islanders sit right on the cusp of the playoffs. They go in or out of this place in the Metropolitan Division seemingly by the day.
But, in the midst of a bust season between two arenas and an odd schedule, there have been some players who have emerged in the 30 games.
Through 30 games, as a team, the Islanders sit at 14-12-4. Despite having more points than games played, which is a standard to aim for, their record is nothing spectacular.
However, I will give credit where credit is due, they are in a better place then I thought they would be in the preseason.
So, let’s get right into it with the third star of the season so far. Please note, I already did three stars for the first 15 games so this list is the mixture of the 15 games since then along with the total 30.
