XFL New York: 5 names that would be awesome for the upcoming team

The Apples or The Gothams

Okay, we are going to go with two names on this slide. New York is known as many, many nicknames.

Its most prominent nickname is “The Big Apple” that caters to every one in the market. So that is why it would make sense to call them the “Apples”

Yes, I get it. That sounds awful and un-intimidating.

It does not sound extreme at all.

However, with some creative branding and a clever color scheme, it could work.

New York City has been known as the Big Apple for a long time now, but it has also been a long time since the city got a new sports team with no prior affiliation.

NYCFC is only City Football Club because of its affiliation with Manchester City.

Anyway, is sounds silly but might just be crazy enough to work. That is the city’s nickname and every one probably knows that already.

If Citi Field can make the raising apple work after every home run, the XFL team can make something symbolic out it too.

But, a better option here might be the Gothams.

New York is less commonly known as Gotham City, but it is still a thing.

So the New York Gothams, or something along those lines, could work.

It would have to come along with a cool color scheme, maybe something like black and orange?

But, the Gothams is a unique name that they could try to name this team.

There is nothing like it and has this batman feel to it.

Again, please note, I did not consider trademarking really being an issue here, this is just for fun.

But, something along the lines of the Gotham’s could be a great, unique theme that could cater to not only New Yorker’s, but tap a whole new market like the comic book fanatics.
