The XFL is returning in 2020 and one of the host cities will be New York where the team will play in Met Life Stadium. They have a great opportunity to succeed, but must first have the right name/brand. Here are some options.

In case you have not heard the news, the XFL is returning in 2020 and one of the eight cities who were rewarded a team was New York.

Well, technically they will play in New Jersey at Met Life Stadium, but are likely to brand as New York.

The XFL or Extreme Football League was originally founded in 2001 and was meant to be a league that didn’t particularly rival the NFL, but was used as an actual professional league as well.

Essentially, the NFL was untouchable so WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, who has built a global juggernaut in the WWE, tried to go into a different professional sport.

It was all a colossal failure. It lost a lot of money and folded after one season.

However, time heals all wounds as the WWE is still thriving and McMahon is ready to go at it again.

It only makes sense for New York to be one of the host cities.

After all, Met Life Stadium is essentially brand new, at least very modern, and clearly New York and the Metro area loves its football since the New York Jets and New York Giants have both been around for decades now.

There is a rich history of football in this city and it just about has a team in every other sports league so of course it makes sense.

But, the XFL, since it failed to gain relevance in its only attempt almost two decades ago still needs to be careful, they need to brand correctly and build a team that makes sense.

So, what I am going to do is trying to be creative and come up with five possible names that they could call the XFL team coming to this area.

What will not be considered is stuff like trademarks, contractual names (like a corporate brand,) any name that a sports team is already called, etc.

This is just for fun. I’m not going to get into all the legal/business aspects of it.

Without further ado, here starts the list of possible names.
