New York Giants: 3 things to watch for this Sunday vs the Redskins- Sanchez vs Eli
The New York Giants face the Washington Redskins in D.C. this Sunday and while it might be painful to be a Giants fan right now, there is still, somehow, plenty to watch in this game.
The New York Giants are 4-8. That is far from an elite record. It is not even a respectable one. However, and luckily for the Giants, they still remain in contention to win the Division.
While a magical Giants playoff run is highly unlikely this year, it is not yet official that the Giants are out of the Playoffs.
What does help the Giants this week is the excitement that can come from watching Saquon Barkley.
That is the first thing to watch for in this week’s game.
Saquon Barkley
The Giants have one, maybe two Pro-Bowlers on their offense. Odell Beckham Jr. is almost a lock to be named based on his name alone.
The Giants’ kicker, Aldrick Rosas is quietly having an elite year. He has been a stud and quite frankly one of the best in the game.
But, like any Giants beat writer, columnists, fan, casual watcher, etc, the number one thing to talk about and cheer for is Saquon Barkley.
This weekend, with even a mediocre performance based on his standard, Saquon Barkley can eclipse the 1,000 yard mark rushing.
He will enter the game at 954 yards. He needs less than 50 yards to reach 1,000 yards rushing as a rookie.
The best part is that this is not even the Giants’ last game. There is plenty of time for him to get that total even higher.
Saquon is also three TDs away from having 15 total TDs on the season. Ideally, it would be awesome to see him get to 17 by years end to average one per game.
But, to be honest, Saquon is fun to watch regardless if you like to do number crunching or not.
But, his numbers are grossly underrated considering the state the Giants are in as a team. That is not even including the offensive line that was shameful for more than half the season up to this point.
Yet, once again, Saquon Barkley is the number one Giants player to watch for. And on Sunday in Washington, he has a high chance to break 1,000 rushing yards on the season.
A nice little moment to watch for as the game goes on.
