The New York Jets were not a part of the FanSided Fandom 250.

Good morning New York Jets fans. This morning I wanted to take a look at something recently released on this network regarding fanbases around the landscape.

For anyone who doesn’t know this, Empire Writes Back is part of the FanSided network. The leader of the pack as far as the network is concerned is the Fansided website.

Three years ago, FanSided started releasing the Fandom 250This is a ranking of the 250 best fanbases, in all avenues that FanSided covers. That includes sports, entertainment, apps and so much more.

More from Empire Writes Back

So with the recent release of the new list, I took a look to see if our football team was on there.

The Jets fanbase is passionate as well as loyal, right? Surely they would be on there.

Unfortunately and much to my chagrin, the Jets were nowhere to be found.

What? How could that be?

The top overall fan base is the Cleveland Browns, and that is acceptable. We as Jets fans can relate to their failures.

And some even have names. They have “The Drive”, “The Fumble” and “Red Right 88”.

That is some fan base to have stuck around through all of that and more.

But the Jets couldn’t even get on this list?? Being around this fanbase for so long makes that seem absolutely crazy.

I mean, the HQ Trivia app made this list and the Jets didn’t? Seriously?

Let’s take a look at the scoring system and the point will become crystal clear:

"Legacy (10 points)Fansmanship (25 points)Passion (25 points)Buzz (25 points)Magnitude (15 points)"

Next. The Jets must consider McCarthy as next coach. dark

Do you see why the Jets should be on this list? Think about it for a moment.

25 points goes for passion. How passionate are Jets fans? Fans of the Gang Green watch their team get walloped each and every week and stay.

Legacy is about longevity. Jets fans have stayed for over 30 years, some for even longer depending upon their age. Jets fans are an enduring community that refuses to die. If that isn’t a big legacy than I don’t know what is.

And buzz? Everything that the Jets do causes buzz! The Jets activities are talked about all over the landscape and trend quickly. Yes, typically it’s because of blunders, mistakes, …etc. It still counts!

The magnitude of the fanbase is big. Just go on social media sometime. There are Jets fans all over the world. It’s not just Americans that are gluttons for punishment.

Now, nobody is saying the Jets fans should be at the top of this list, but they absolutely should be on it. They are more than qualified.
