The New York Islanders have spent much of this season in a playoff spot. Now that is after American Thanksgiving, we’ve hit crunch time. So, what do the Isles need to keep doing to stay in the playoff picture? Here’s three things.

The New York Islanders have gone from an early season surprise to a low-key, legit contender to make the playoffs.

We all already knew that Barry Trotz was going to make a difference with this team, but who would have thought the changes he made would be this obvious and work this soon?

No one gave the Isles much of  a chance this season.

Now, they have maintained an admirable record and are right near the top three of the Metro Division.

The Islanders still do not have a lot of talent, in my opinion, they could still improve in that department.

There are multiple things that great teams do well consistently and poor teams do not do consistently.

With the ample sample size we have from the Islanders this season, it is becoming clear why the Islanders are maintaining a playoff spot.

Of course, the reasons we are about to list is not enough alone to help the Islanders win the Cup, or even go far in the playoffs, but they are things that show the Isles’ season so far is more than a coincidence, the little things it takes to make the playoffs, if you would.

Basically, the Isles do the right things well.

Without further ado, here is the list of three things the Islanders need to keep doing if they want to make the playoffs.
