The New York Yankees have already had a busy offseason and with Mariano Rivera eligible for the Hall of Fame, things are about to get more crazy. Rivera is 100% a Hall of Fame baseball player, but will be unanimous?

You cannot write about the history of the New York Yankees without mentioning Mariano Rivera.

He will be a Hall of Fame player. Even this year, I would bet a lot that he makes it on his first ballot this summer.

However, what is even more rare, and Mariano was that special, is getting a player come along who makes you wonder. Will he be the guy who gets 100% of the votes?

It has never happened. In the rich, long, and illustrious history of baseball. No player has gotten inducted into the Hall of Fame while earning every single vote.

There is a reason for that. Some sports writers, or the people who vote, might not vote for a player just because they know their one vote towards that player will stop the player from getting in.

Or, there is the chance that a writer just does not think that Mariano Rivera is a Hall of Famer, based on whatever twisted logic he or she has.

So, it not that there were players who you looked at in the past and thought they were only 95% a Hall of Famers.

No, you can look at Mariano and know and think he is 100% a Hall of Famer.

The system is just how it is. There is nothing anyone could do about it.

So, what we can ask though, is Mariano good enough to get the record for most votes.

Right now the record the 99.32% That is the percentage of voters who put  Ken Griffey Jr.in the Hall of Fame on his first shot.

That seems like an insurmountable number to break. However, Mariano set the standard for his position. He is a legend in every way. His value is not in the dollar or cents amount. His value isn’t that he was marketable.

His value is that you cannot write the history of the bullpen, of the closer position, or any of the World Series teams he was on without him.

Sure, Mariano never won the Cy Young. But, I would take most saves ever over that. I would take being part of five World Series teams over that.

No one, has done what Mariano did in his career.

No one ever will again.

He set a standard for longevity, success, being a Yankee, and more success.

Although anyone getting 100% of the votes might not ever happen, Mariano Rivera has the best chance to.

Even Derek Jeter, who will get A LOT of votes will be held down by his lack of personal achievements. He never won the MVP. Never set any notable MLB records.

Next. Trade packages for John Wall and Bradley Beal. dark

Mariano did all those things. A great Yankees, much like the many legends they have in the Hall, he won titles, made all-star games (13).
