Historically superior

This statement seems pretty broad, but that is okay. It all makes sense once explaining it.

New York sports are in a seemingly dark place right now. The best team is the Yankees and they cannot seem to break through, while most others (non-soccer) are either directionless or rebuilding.

It has been since 2011 since New York was the home of a World Champion. For most cities that feels like three days. However, New York has so many teams and opportunities year after year, that it feels too long.

But more importantly, this long without a Championship feels painfully long because of the standard that has been set based on the history of the teams we have.

The Yankees, are the most successful team, maybe ever. 27 World Titles is really all I need, but count in all the Hall of Famers, the rich tradition, the legends, the sold out crowds, and you have a great franchise.

The Islanders, they too, despite the lack of recent success, are historically great. One of the best dynasties in hockey happened right on Long Island in the 1980s.

The Knicks, not much to brag about but play and Madison Square Garden, a GLOBAL icon, and one of the oldest teams in the NBA.

The Devils, although not New York, still represent the market well, set the standard for some of the most sustainable style of hockey that works that we have ever seen.

This is just the beginning of the list of the great history of New York sports.

Although there might not be anything worse than living in the past, never forgetting it is important.

The product is only as good as the highest standard it has set. New York sports teams, more often than not, typically never had a tough time reaching the pinnacle.

Be thankful that these teams have won, and won for a long time before this dry spell. Things could be better now, but that is only because of how sweet things once were.
