NFL Hall of Famer Jerry  Rice thinks that New York Giants quarterback Eli   Manning shouldn’t go in the Hall of Fame. He should apologize to Eli for saying that.

The New York Giants are going through another horrible season as they are 2-8 after beating the San Francisco 49ers Monday night. As quarterback Eli Manning is near the end of his career, the question is will he be in the Hall of Fame? One current Hall of Famer doesn’t think so.

In an interview with the Bay area’s 95.7 The Game, Jerry Rice said that he doesn’t think Eli is a Hall of Famer.

“No. I don’t see Eli as a Hall of Famer. Drew Brees, I do.”

Rice went on to explain why, per Des Bieler of the Washington Post:

"“I think so, because when I’m judging a player, I’m looking [at] what he brings to the table. What I see with Eli Manning, there’s not consistency.Yes, he has two Super Bowls, but then you look at Drew Brees and what he has accomplished, and all of that. I think in yardage now, he’s the leader. He’s doing great things for that team, and that team is getting better as they go. You can tell he’s a great leader, and he makes everybody better around him.”"

First off Eli Manning is a future Hall of Famer. He has had a Hall of Fame worthy career. Let’s look at how the numbers prove it.

This season Eli has completed 67.6 percent of his passes, thrown for 2,565 yards with 11 touchdowns and a 92. 7 rating.

Those aren’t bad numbers despite the fact that the Giants have only won two games this season.

Despite the fact the Manning has struggled a bit the last two seasons, what he has done in his career is good enough for him to go into the Hall of Fame.

Eli ranks sixth in career passing yards(52,247), tied for seventh in career passing touchdowns(350), sixth in career pass attempts(7,742) and is sixth is career pass completions(4,658).

Manning has a 113-110 record in the regular season, and did I mention that he has won two Super Bowls and was the MVP of those Super Bowls?

On the other hand Drew Brees has completed 77.3 percent of his passes, thrown for 2,601 yards and 21 touchdowns this season. He leads the NFL with a quarterback rating of 123.8.

Next. Three top disappointing New York Giants. dark

Brees is having a great season and has led the NFL in major categories at least four times, while Manning had only led the NFL in interceptions, which he’s done three times. Brees has won one Super Bowl so far, but I agree with Rice that he Brees is a future Hall of Famer.

Eli Manning is also a future Hall of Famer because of what he has accomplished in his career. So Jerry Rice you need to apologize to Eli because he will be in the Hall of Fame someday.
