The New York Jets got beaten badly but the Buffalo Bills by the score of 41-10. Here are some initial observations from a pathetic performance.

The New York Jets faced a Buffalo Bills team using its fourth different starting quarterback of the season. Does anyone think that played into the result? It did not:

16. 10. 30. Final. 41

Matt Barkley starting at quarterback for the Bills made no difference. From the first play right until the end, he tore it up. He made the Jets look bad.

Here are some observations:

  • Welcome back Trumaine Johnson? Frankly he looked just as bad as he did before he got hurt, getting burned on a big 47 yard pass on the first play. Great investment he has been.
  • The defense did nothing to make Matt Barkley feel uncomfortable. There was no pass rush at all. Barkley was able to whatever he wanted all day long, going 15-25 for 232 yards and two touchdowns.
  • LeSean McCoy got his skills back. In the previous three games he had rushed for 24 yards. Against the Jets he ran for 113. When players are coming to your stadium to resurrect their season, it’s very bad.
  • The offense was predictable. Where have you heard that one before? There was nothing creative about the game plan, whatsoever. Runs and short passes leaving the team with third and long.
  • Josh McCown was understandably rusty. He was 17-34 with two interceptions. McCown was off-target on many throws. He was behind with some, too far ahead with others. He just wasn’t good. He played a bit more like the McCown of most of his career, not the 2017 version.

Next. Stop hating on Sam. dark

  • The offensive line allowed for too many tipped passes. They must be aware of the play call and be able to cut the lineman to bring their arms down. Brandon Shell was guilty of this mistake on multiple occasions.
  • New York looked like the quit on their head coach. The team genuinely seemed to give a poor effort. The game did nothing to show that Todd Bowles deserved to stay.
