New York Islanders: Three stars of the season 15 games in
“Elite” Josh Bailey
Josh Bailey took a narrative and what turns out to have been lazy analysis and turned into something that is just flat-out false.
Many pointed to Josh Bailey, who struggled for many year upon his NHL debut in the 2008-2009 season, and dubbed him as a product of the Maple Leaf who shall not be named.
Well, last year Bailey was an All-Star, but in his first season without his former line mate, Bailey seems to be picking up right where he left off.
In all 15 games he has played in this season, he has five goals, 12 assists, and 17 total points.
That’s right, that is more than one point per game played. He can do it all this season, but his ability to be patient and create chances in unbelievable.
He finally came into his own last season and instead of losing it all in the midst of all the Islanders’ personnel changes, he kept that form.

He had that goal against the Penguins at home, plus the goal in the shootout that allowed the Isles to get the extra point that night.
Bailey’s production has not gone unnoticed and always feels like it comes at a valuable time.
In the Islanders last game, Thursday night against the Lightning, he scored twice allowing the Islanders to even be in the hockey games as it wound down.
He also has two power play goals, which I’ve stressed is underrated in terms of importance and one game winning goal.
He looks to be heading right back to the All-Star team. But for the smaller picture he has been the first star of the Islanders’ season so far, he deserves it.
