The New York Islanders are 15 games into the 2018-2019 NHL season and they have just about done it all. They spent time in first place and rode a massive win streak. Here are the three stars from those first 15 games.

The New York Islanders have played admirably and even shockingly so far this season. They have a long way to go to prove they are the best team but have already likely shown they will no be the worst.

15 games into the season, the Islanders have eight wins, five losses, and two ties. Seven of those wins have come in regulation or a shootout and most of those wins have also come against teams in the Metropolitan Division.

So, the Isles have had a drop-off the last two games entering Saturday’s bout in South Florida, but have gotten them when they count.

The Isles have been efficient all season. Getting wins where they count (like division games), they have nine more goals for than against (46-37), and the goaltending is holding up with both Thomas Greiss and Robin Lehner having four wins.

The Islanders’ crazy plan has been working so far. They’ve stuck with some of their older players, the Leo Komarov‘s and Tom Kuhnhackl’s of the world while keeping the Josh Ho-Sang’s of the world down in Bridgeport.

But, no matter how brilliant what I have been dubbing as the “Barry Trotz Hockey System” has been, it comes down to each player still putting in the work and completing their shifts and being where they are supposed to be.

So, the Isles have production all around, every skater for them at least has one point. So, it is not outright a two or three-man show, but still, some great production where it matters.

Without further ado, here are my three starts of the Islanders’ season so far 15 games in!
