Where is McCoy?

More from Empire Writes Back

Alan S: What happened to LeSean McCoy? Even when the QB play was bad, they had McCoy to fall back on. What happened to this guy?

John C: What happened with LeSean McCoy is a product of the team around him.

He is getting older sure, but the number one issue with McCoy is the turnover on the offensive line.

His whole Bills career, dating back to 2015, he had guys like Eric Wood and Richie Incognito to help him get space.

He is lethal in space but with those guys gone, and over half the o-line different from last year, it is just something ‘Shady’ is not used to.

In addition, we must not forget that this offense was built for Josh Allen. There is a new OC from last year in Brain Daboll, but the offense is still very simple.

McCoy’s new role with the team revolves around being an anchor for Allen so he can have players to rely on. Since Allen has been out, the team’s who plan has been thrown off and McCoy is just victim of that.

He is unfamiliar with the team around him and the turnover has just too much for him to handle. He is bound to find the end zone eventually. But, the Bills are still more than likely wasting one of his prime years. His days in Buffalo are numbered beyond this season and it is not his fault by any means.
