New York Giants: Three players who have disappointed the most this season
By Sam Friedman
Nate Solder
This was one of the biggest additions during the offseason. Not just for the Giants, but across the entire NFL.
It’s hard to knock Nate Solder, as he went through one of the worst injuries in sports history, suffering from testicular cancer in 2015.
Formerly a proven winner with the Patriots, and one of the most dependable tackles in the NFL, Solder has been terrible for the Giants.
He has underachieved as much as the next hot offseason acquisition across the league, and that is saying something.
Solder ranks 23rd of all tackles according to Pro Football Focus.
That is not nearly impressive enough for the second highest paid offensive lineman in the league. That’s not just tackles, all offensive lineman.
Looking through Football Outsiders, a website that crunches advanced stats for the NFL, the Giants rank in the bottom of every single category for passing.
They are extremely lucky that Saquon Barkley is arguably the best running back in the league. Without him, I can guarantee that the offensive line of the Giants would be in the bottom of the league.
Solder was supposed to come in, and bring a winning culture to the New York Giants.
Instead, he has done the opposite, and the Giants are suffering for it.
