New York Knicks: Evaluating the starting lineups ten games in
How can the Knicks improve their starting lineup?
If the Knicks want to be competitive they might consider moving guard Frank Ntilikina to the bench in order to change up the starting rotation and maybe make it look something like this:
PG: Trey Burke
SG: Damyean Dotson
SF: Tim Hardaway jr.
PF: Mitchell Robinson
C: Enes Kanter
This starting rotation is one that is capable of putting up points on the offensive end, while also stopping opponents from scoring in the post with the presence of Enes Kanter and Mitchell Robinson down low.
Now this is a starting lineup many will look at and call me crazy for even considering, but if you think about it it’s something that could seriously work. Sure you technically have two centers and three guards on the court but look at the stats.
In the starting lineup I proposed the Knicks would have an average height of a little over six-feet seven inches. This would be a huge lineup as the Knicks would have three guards in Burke, Dotson and Hardaway who stand at 6’1″, 6’6″ and 6’6″ respectfully, and two centers in Mitchell Robinson and Enes Kanter who stand at 7’0″ and 6’11”.
Once again a huge starting lineup which would give the Knicks a great post presence with Kanter and Robinson in the front court and Burke, Dotson and Hardaway in the back court.
This starting lineup would be an interesting one but it is one that has the possibility of making the Knicks a contender for a playoff spot.
When these five players start they combine for a total of 70.9 points, 29 rebounds and 12.3 assists. If that is any sort of signal of what could happen if these five were all on the same court at the same time then the Knicks could very well be a respectable team that can compete for a lower playoff seed in the 6-8 range.
