Poor Center Play

More from Empire Writes Back

This is now getting ridiculous with the Spencer Long guy. He is looking terrible and it’s not getting any better.

In this game Long could barely connect on two straight shotgun snaps without a miscue. The snaps were all over the place.

Each time, it threw off the timing of Darnold and the offense. They didn’t all result in turnovers but one did.

The fact is they broke down plays all over the place. The center’s job is to get the ball to the quarterback. It really isn’t rocket science.

The Jets invested $27.4 million dollars in this guy, including $6 million guaranteed, to turn around the offensive line.

Long needs to figure out what is going on with these snaps and fix it. If he is hurt he needs to figure out a way to compensate.

The snaps were a problem in this game and most definitely a factor in why the Jets lost.
