With the New York Giants an embarrassment, is this the worst time ever to be a New York sports fan?

Three teams, one is decent
The New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders are all in the cellar of the Metropolitan division.
Since there are only eight teams in said division, you have to think that one of the teams is going to be decent?
Well, right now it looks like it’s the Devils.
If the season ended today, not one of the three teams would be close to making the playoffs.
It’s a very sad time in New York hockey.
The Devils are lower-middle in the Eastern Conference, but the stats show they may be better than they are.
Now getting into the ugly, the Islanders are going through an identity crisis for the ages.
The team is splitting time between the Barclay Center and the Nassau Coliseum.
An idea that doesn’t seem that bad in practice, but going from Brooklyn to Long Island is not enjoyable whatsoever.
All of their fan base is out in Long Island. The Islander faithful were so vocal about the hatred for the Barclays Center. Brooklyn Sports Entertainment has to move some of their games back to the Coliseum
Let’s not forget, the Rangers sit in a bad spot too.
They have one of the worst records in the league. The Rangers squandered Henrik Lundqvist‘s peak and now are rebuilding during his twilight.
The Devils have the most potential out of these teams and once they get a more regular schedule we will see what they are.
The Rangers and Islanders are both likely in a transition season. Maybe even still years away from both of them making the playoffs.
Things are better in this market when the hockey teams are good. That just doesn’t seem to be the case right now.
