New York Yankees: Yanks need to use the Red Sox victory as fuel next year
By Sam Friedman
The Boston Red Sox are the 2018 World Series Champions, leaving the New York Yankees salty. This feeling must rally the Yankees for next season.
The New York Yankees‘ arch-rival Boston Red Sox were the best team in baseball this year. They continued to show this by being the first team to win over 100 games this season.
This year’s Red Sox squad, led by rookie skipper, Alex Cora, are the best Red Sox team of all time.
As for the Yankees, they have to be especially bitter after last night.

On October 6, the Yankees left Boston after cruising to a 6-2 victory over a broken David Price. One and two-thirds innings, three hits, three earned runs, was his final stat line.
Price was destroyed that night.
The Yankees had his number in the Bronx, but this was in Boston, it felt different.
However, after that game, Aaron Judge decided to walk by the Red Sox locker room, blaring “New York, New York” by Frank Sinatra.
This lit a fire under the Red Sox. They went on to outscore the Yankees 20-4 over the next two games, popping champaign in the Bronx and punching their ticket to the next round of the playoffs.
The Yankees sat at home and watched as the Red Sox fought passed the 103 win Astros, and the back-to-back National League Champions, Los Angeles Dodgers.
Each time the Red Sox won, “New York, New York” was played during the celebration.
If I were Yankee fan, I would be circling my calendar for Opening Day and the next season to start.
The amount of disrespect shown during games in which the Yankees weren’t even playing will make this offseason very long.
When the birds are chirping, and the snow is (hopefully) gone in late March, the Yankees will remember this.
If you are a gambler, I would take a serious look at Aaron Judge’s odds to win MVP.
The leadership he showed at the end of the season, coupled with “New York, New York”, makes for a good MVP stew.
Giancarlo Staton, Gary Sanchez, Luis Severino, Miguel Andujar and Aaron Hicks will all have huge chips on their shoulders next season.
Stanton and Sanchez have both been roasted by the New York media.
Andujar and Hicks will be coming off playoff games where they were benched. Severino will need to show he has shaken his demons.
One thing is definitely certain, the rivalry between the Red Sox and Yankees is back. Expect to see more Joe Kelly/Tyler Austin-esque fights next season.
