New York Giants: What does no deal on deadline day mean?
Deadline day has come and gone and it has passed without a peep for New York Giants. What does this mean about the state of the Giants and their future?
The New York Giants have been the most talked about team for weeks now because of, well reasons.
One of those reasons was the possibility of trading away star players such as Janoris Jenkins and Landon Collins.
However, deadline day has passed and both Jenkins and Collins will still be suiting up for the Giants come Monday’s game against the 49ers.

Following the trades of Eli Apple and Damon Harrison it was expected that there would be others on the way out too, but this was surprisingly not the case.
The Giants are a 1-7 football team with quarterback problems so it doesn’t make too much sense why they weren’t more active ahead of the deadline.
There are only a couple of reasons as to why the Giants wouldn’t be more active going into the deadline.
One possible reason the Giants decided not to get rid of anyone at the deadline could be because they feel somewhat confident in the team they have going forward.
The Giants have a star running back in Saquon Barkley, and a receiver in Odell Beckham Jr. With a halfway decent offensive line and a new quarterback the offense could truly be something special.
However, now that the Giants got rid of Eli Apple and Damon Harrison, there are some holes left on defense.
This being said, the Giants could have decided not to trade Jenkins and Collins so they wouldn’t have more holes to fill.
They already need to draft a quarterback, fix their offensive line and find replacements for Damon Harrison and Eli Apple at defensive tackle and cornerback respectively.
So, if this is the case, it wouldn’t make much sense to add another cornerback and a safety to that list.
Another scenario could be that the Giants simply didn’t get enough in return for Collins and Jenkins.
Janoris Jenkins and Landon Collins are two of the best defensive players in the NFL and it would take a great deal to trade for either of them.
This being said, the Giants may have believed they weren’t getting enough in return to trade the two pro bowlers.
With the way the trades have been going down this year, it is not unlikely that the Giants were only getting late round draft picks in return for their secondary stars.
If the Giants want to rebuild and be a respectable team anytime soon, they’re going to need first and second round picks to get young talent.
So if they’re going to trade anyone, they’d be looking for early round picks.
Whatever the reason may be, the Giants let the 2018 deadline come and pass with only two trades which they got a fourth, a fifth and a seventh round pick for.
