The Brooklyn Nets have a young core of players this regime has brought in and on the forefront of it is Caris LeVert who has been playing some great basketball.

The Brooklyn Nets have an interesting campaign so far with a lot of ups and downs, the only constant, however, has been Caris LeVert who making a strong case to be this year’s Spencer Dinwiddie

Last season, Spencer Dinwiddie was a few seasons into his NBA career when he found his role and cemented his solid season by taking home a nomination for most improved player.

This season, the Nets seem to have another player who can go from a random player to a significant role in the Nets’ future.

This season, Caris LeVert already made the shot that propelled the Nets to a win vs the Knicks, but it goes well beyond that.

Already, he is on pace to shatter his games started. Last season, LeVert only started 10 games all season. This year, he has started in the first five.

To compare, in 2016-2017 Spence Dinwiddie started just 18 games. Last season, the one where he improved the most he made the most of his whopping 58 games started.

Just to compare the stat that might matter the most, points per game, LeVert is already averaging nine more points this year then he ended with last season.

In Dinwiddie’s jump, he improved his points per game from a little over seven to nearly 13.

The real point is though, that both players are going to end up helping the Nets in a sense.

By once again having a player look significantly better over the course of just one offseason, it completely fits the shoe that Head Coach Kenny Atkinson is supposed to be. His specialty is player development and he it is showing.

Caris LeVert’s new role might not end with a nomination for an NBA award, but it is at least going to help the Nets improve and finish building their foundation.

Much like how Spencer Dinwiddie’s improvement is going to help the Nets. Whether the Nets decide to keep him for the future or use him as trade bait to get better that way, his value is the highest it has ever been.

There is even a chance Caris LeVert is a part of the long-term plan for the Nets, even more than Dinwiddie.

The entire point of the Nets season this year is to improve. Find what players are going to be the best. Caris LeVert was always someone the Nets believed in and are high on, but this is finally the year it is all coming together.

Spencer Dinwiddie last season went from simply a player to a great Net. Caris LeVert is doing the same thing but might be even better this year.

The best part of it all is that homegrown talent does not grow on trees in the NBA. Usually, it is difficult to win without proven stars. Many of the games biggest stars now are not with their original teams.

The Nets might never be a big market team where all the star players get together, and the results might not be there this season.

But one thing the Nets can say is that they get the most out of their players and give them a chance to be the best they could be or better than they have been. That alone could also make them appealing to free agents or players in general.

That is not the worst identity or brand to have.

Caris LeVert is this year’s Spencer Dinwiddie, but that is just the beginning of what the Nets players are capable of.
