New York Knicks: 3 reasons the Knicks need to start Damyean Dotson
By Sam Friedman
What is there to lose?
It’s very early in the season, but there are red flags already sprouting up on the Knicks roster.
Outside of Enes Kanter and Tim Hardaway, the Knicks offense has been a dumpster fire.
Trey Burke, a feel good story from last season, has struggled outside of one-quarter vs. the Bucks. He needs to take a massive step forward for Knicks to hand him the keys to the offense.
Burke’s role is to initiate the offense, and create for the ones who cannot do it themselves.
He has done a well with assisting teammates, checking in at 7.5 apg clip.
I personally, would like to see that number in the 9-10 range, based on the scoring ability of Kanter, Hardaway, and now Dotson.
Also, Frank Ntilikina seems lost on offense.
He doesn’t strike fear into any defense, and has never made a Knick fan confident when he has the ball in his hands. His handle is lackluster, and not once has he hoisted a shot where I thought it would go in.
Ntilikina’s big trump card is that he is young, he will develop. I agree with the sentiment, but how long is the leash? When do the Knicks cut bait?
Dotson is proving that he can be a secondary tertiary scorer on a team. However he needs more touches to blossom into a player for the Knicks to build with or a trade chip.
