Zach Britton

This is another example of a player who seems expendable, but will actually be an asset in 2019.

Zach Britton was acquired at the 2018 deadline for a need they had to fill in 2018.

He did his job and did it well.

Now, it is easy to think he did his job for the Yanks and both sides should move on.

But, the Yanks shouldn’t give up on Britton like that.

Britton can be in asset in 2019, one because if the Yankees sign him that already fills a depth spot.

Two, he can be a valuable veteran to what might be a young pitching core.

Three, he can still bring it and be a great bridge to give Aroldis Chapman, who was injury ridden in 2018, some rest and a better balance.

Britton should be brought back in 2018. If he does walk, it does not mean the Yanks gave up on him, but they shouldn’t let him walk.

Britton might not be the first name that comes to mind in terms of who the Yankees should sign in 2019, but he should be on the list.

Don’t make Britton just another player the Yanks gave up prospects for just to fail in 2018 anyway.

They should at least see what else he has got with this team.

In conclusion, the Yankees obviously need to make some changes to get better in 2019. There are many things that need to go, many things that need to come, some shuffling around with some positions.

But, these are the things that need to stay. If the Yankees want to be better and take the next step in 2019, they can’t give up on any of these players/tactics and then some.
