Bronx Bombers

The New York Yankees hit a lot of home runs in 2019. That is a fact, but also a simple observation.

The only problem was their failure to consistently play small ball. If the home run was not there for the Yanks, neither were the runs.

So, obviously the Yankees are going to hit a lot of home runs again. So, what I am saying though, is they can’t over correct this.

The Yankees, for sure, can use more players who hit for higher averages and just want to get on base without smacking it out.

However, the formula they have now, the one where they can hack their way out of losses, is not broken. It is just not fool-proof.

Don’t look on their blessing/curse of depending on the home run as something to give up on.

They won’t and they can easily make it work.

With better starting pitching and more young talent coming up through the system, the Yankees will be able win games 2-0, 3-1, etc. by only hitting one home run and being stagnant otherwise.

The pitching needs to get better, the hitting does not necessarily need to get more efficient.

The Yankees should try to break their own home record from 2018, and use it to help them more in 2019.

Don’t think the offense was the problem, at least don’t give up on the way it was built yet.
