The New York Yankees must sit and watch their arch rival Red Sox play in the Fall Classic for the second time since the Yanks were last there in 2009. Now, the only thing the Yanks can do is get ready for 2019.

The New York Yankees burst onto the scene in 2017 coming one game away from the pennant.

They seemed to be even better in 2018 after winning 100 games in the regular season.

However, we can null and void all of that because in neither of those years did they win the ultimate prize, the Commissioner’s Trophy.

So, obviously, the Yankees need to improve in 2019.

If they want to win the World Series, or even beat the Red Sox, there are plenty of things they need to do.

So, we once talked here on how the Yankees can improve starting pitching in 2019 to take the next step, but that was just the beginning.

What other steps can they take?

We will dive right in. They can’t give up.

What I mean by this, is they can’t over-correct coming up short by making irrational decisions. So, here are players/things to not give up on in 2019 in order to get over the hump.

Please note that in no way, shape, or form, am I reporting or saying there are talks about giving up on the things on this list.

I am simply looking at things that seem expendable on the surface but provide true value and will be key pieces in 2019.

Let’s start with the first the thing the Yankees can’t give up on.
