New York Knicks: There was one bright spot in blowout loss to Heat
The New York Knicks got blown out by the Miami Heat on Wednesday night, but the loss allowed for a breakout game from Damyean Dotson off the bench. Dotson’s performance was a bright spot in an otherwise embarrassing loss.
The New York Knicks lost 110-87 to the Miami Heat on Wednesday night after being down 92-65 after three, in this loss, we saw one Damyean Dotson have a huge game going for 20 points, two assists and 10 rebounds.
Yes, that same Damyean Dotson who went for an average of 4.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 2017-18.
Dotson had the best game of his life on Wednesday night which may provide the second year shooting guard with some more minutes off the bench.

Dotson is averaging 29.3 minutes off the bench this year after getting only a touch over ten a game last season.
Dotson has been given a much larger role this year as he has been playing in the number two guard slot off the bench behind that of Frank Ntilikina and Trey Burke.
Dotson has truly stepped up in the early part of the new year now that he is given some respectable minutes.
Now, that his time on the court has been nearly tripled we are seeing some serious improvements on both sides of the ball.
With Frank Ntilikina being primarily a defensive player and seeing he is averaging nearly two assists per game and has played great on defense with only six points and 2.8 assists per game, they needed someone to step up.
So far this year, that guy has been Damyean Dotson, and Wednesday night’s game against the Heat was a testament to just that.
In the Knicks’ five games so far this season Dotson has played in three of them and has stepped up in a pretty large way.
Dotson is averaging 29.3 minutes off the bench in which he has put up 14.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and a little over a steal and an assist per game plus only one turnover in three games.
I don’t know about you, but 14.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.6 steals 0.3 turnovers per game off the bench seems pretty darn good to me.
With Ntilikina being fantastic on defense, having a player like Damyean Dotson come off the bench is huge for the Knicks.
Expect to see the Knicks expand on Dotson’s role in the coming weeks and months following his huge 20 point 10 rebound double-double off the bench on Wednesday night in Miami.
