Following the New York Jets loss to the Minnesota Vikings, fans have started to panic once again. Fans need to step back from the ledge and just relax.
The New York Jets lost to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon. We have all come to terms with this by now. The Jets are 3-4 headed to another tough game against the Bears.
It is also clear that Sam Darnold had his worst game to date. He went 17-42 for 206 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. There were drops but it was clearly not a game to write home about.
Jets fans tend to go from one end of the spectrum to the other when talking about their team. It comes with the territory when you celebrated the 50th anniversary of your only Super Bowl. Fans get restless.

However, fans must temper those feelings with reality. At times, there are factions of Jets fans that lose reality a bit.
Fans were flying high during the two-game winning streak. Dreams of playoff berths and even division titles were being shared.
With a loss, the fans have gone back the other way. It’s over and they want the coach fired.
Some want everybody fired. Take a look:

This tweet is just one example of the extreme fan base. There were opinions like this all over the social media landscape. Facebook and Twitter were littered with these types of opinions.
Some Jets fans were calm, others were getting out there on the edge like the above tweet.
Jets fans, take a deep breath. Relax. Come back off of the ledge. Everything is going to be OK.
It’s hard. We have been fooled into thinking good things in the past only to have our hopes get dashed. This time it’s different.
Why? Well, think about this game that had many of you upset.
The Jets were not supposed to win this football game. Minnesota was a step up in the opponent level.
New York is still rebuilding, in case anybody forgot. Sam Darnold is 21 years old and was making his seventh career start. Do any of you think that he faced opponents to the level of Xavier Rhodes and/or Harrison Smith in the past?
Of course not. This was a level of competition he has never seen. A rookie has to learn and this is how he does it. They are called growing pains, people.
They also couldn’t run the football. In the two victories against Denver and Indianapolis, the Jets were widely successful on the ground. Against the Vikings they weren’t, running for a mere 71 yards.
It was all on Sam Darnold and especially without Quincy Enunwa, that was a task he isn’t ready to handle, yet.
On the other side, the Jets went up against Adam Thielen, Stefon Diggs and Kyle Rudolph. Even with everyone up and healthy this was a tough task. Add to it being down three defensive backs and the task became nearly impossible.
We will forget the cold weather which was new to Darnold and the multiple dropped passes once again. He can’t throw the ball and catch it too.
Despite all of that, the Jets were in the game in the fourth quarter. Until the Latavius Murray touchdown in the fourth quarter, the Jets had a chance to come back. That would not have been the case with previous Jets teams and we all know it.
Yes the winning streak is over. No it’s not the end of the world. Relax Jets fans. Breathe and come off of the ledge. They will be just fine.
