New York Giants: Three things we learned in loss to the Falcons
The QB position has stalled the 2018 Giants season
The New York Giants have a QB problem. Not only is Eli proving he can no longer get the job done, the Giants also cannot stop QBs from torching them.
The Giants have faced their fair share of top-tier QBs this season and it has not worked out well for Big Blue.
In Weeks 1 & 2, Eli Manning was a liability and it was his inability to make plays that cost the Giants.
In Week 3, their only win, they took advantage of a rusty Deshaun Watson to beat a then ice-cold Texans team.
After that, the Giants were opposite Cam Newton, Drew Brees, Carson Wentz, and Matt Ryan.
All of those QBs might have better help around them but they were all great game managers in their wins over the Giants.
Against the Giants, Matt Ryan had a near perfect second half and got the Falcons ahead. When Eli needed to make plays or be a game manager, was when the game actually started to steer away from the Giants.
This is golden age of QBs for the NFL.
You either need to have a great one or be able to expose the ones you are against.
The Giants have failed to do both in almost every game.
Eli Manning has played poorly, but to pile it on even more, their secondary can’t stop the other QBs from playing well against them.
In all the close games the Giants have been in so far, the difference has always been QB play.
Saquon has tried to carry them, and he is an asset, but his scores do nothing if the defense or Eli can’t’ do their jobs.
The Giants better figure out a way to get the most of out Eli and their defense. Both need to be firing on all cylinders this year.
Since its unrealistic to expect the Giants to stop every great NFL QB that comes their way, they must learn how to have Eli be an asset again and keep them in games.
The Giants have a QB problem in every way. That is basically the reason they have lost all but one games.
