New York Giants: Three things we learned in loss to the Falcons
The New York Giants dropped their Week 7 game to the Atlanta Falcons with all of America watching. Once again, the loss was not pretty, but what did we learn?
The New York Giants had a rough night down in the ATL vs the Falcons. They were able to hang on for a decent amount of time, but eventually, their lack of fire power caught up to them.
The Falcons, to their defense, played well and were simply the better team for most of the game.
Matt Ryan stepped up when it mattered most, and the Giants shot themselves in the foot just enough to cost them.
Instead of getting into all the X’s and O’s, and without making any excuses, let’s just get right into what we learned about the Giants from this game.
Giants don’t fare well vs teams named after animals
In a kind of bizarre twist, the New York Giants lost to another team who is named after an animal.
Yes, most of the NFL teams are named after an animal, but the Giants still could have avoided this by being better against more teams.
This time, it was a team named the Falcons who gave them their sixth loss in seven games this year.
But before that, the Giants also lost to a team named the Eagles, Panthers, and Jaguars. Their only win was against a team called the Texans who not exactly named after an animal.
The Giants also lost to teams not named after animals, but had they beaten just one of the above teams, this would not have even crossed my mind.
Luckily, the Giants only have three more games vs teams whose nicknames are animals, the Colts, the Bears, and one more vs the Eagles.
Hopefully, they fare well against at least one of those teams to avoid this odd coincidence. There is just something about teams named after animals that the Giants cannot conquer.
