New York Giants: Three Giants players to watch vs the Atlanta Falcons
Don’t let Matty Ice get warm
The Giants really have one job on Monday night. That is to win. But, since that is easier said then done, they will need a lot of things to go right if they want to win on the road.
The Giants will not be able to control many things in the game.
Bad officiating could screw them over again. Or, the football gods can be against them again if the game comes down to another basically half-mile field goal that goes in.
However, one thing they can control is how they play. If the player do their assignments, don’t commit blatant penalties, and flat-out execute, that is all one could ask.
That is what needs to happen, in every NFL game, and in this one.
It might be cheating on this list because it is only supposed to be three players, but Eli Apple and Janoris Jenkins should count as one player tonight.
They are going to have to be on the same page.
They will need to protect their given sides of the field and limit who Matt Ryan can throw to.
The Falcons have been limited this season and Julio Jones is having a rough time finding the end zone.
But, the Giants cannot fall for the illusions or the traps of this.
The Giant defense is supposed to be their strong suit. They seem to be fried out right in past games, but are finally well rested and playing in favorable conditions.
In a dome, or even just warm weather, it is easy to throw the ball all over the filed and dominate in the air.
If Apple and Jenkins do their jobs well, if they have great games, that takes away the Falcons’ best chance to win.
Taking away the Falcons’ best way to win, gives the Giants the edge.
The Giants need a win, or at least need to show they have some kind of pulse left. Having an advantage in this game will lead to one of both of those things coming to fruition.
Step it up, gentlemen.
