Despite the fact that the Brooklyn Nets are still only on the cusp of big things, there is one thing emerging from the cracks and that is Jarrett Allen’s improved style of play.

The Brooklyn Nets are in another transition year where things might not go well, but if everything up to this point of the season holds true, it’s that Jarrett Allen could be a star.

Jarrett Allen might never end up being the star the Nets hand-picked, but he could end up being the star that emerges in the end.

The Nets might have started off this season in the same way they ended that last few, hard-fought, lose by a small margin, and no sense of clutch-ness whatsoever, but one player is still going to shine through it all.

Jarrett Allen enters this season expected to turn heads. But, just turning heads might not help the Nets.

The Nets still lack that star player. Although the free agency class could be huge for them this offseason, the Nets need something to give with the current core of players they have.

D’Angelo Russell is like the de-facto face of the franchise. The hand-picked one. But, coming off injury problems and already being on his second team could raise some questions.

If he ends up not panning out, that wouldn’t be great. However, Jarrett Allen is not a bad consolation prize.

His look alone is capable of being marketed well. The headband, the crazy afro, his size, all of it could become the new brand of the Nets and be unlike every other team in the NBA.

But, the way he plays can be exhilarating too. Highlight reel blocks (like the one above), smart defensive awareness. But now, he seems to have a new secret weapon.

A three-point shot.

Yes, this is not a drill. Jarrett Allen has introduced this season a new three-point shot. In the season opener, he made two-three pointers. Now, that is not that impressive but is already on pace to shatter what he did last season.

Now, Rome was not built in a day, but neither are the Nets.

Jarrett Allen is going to get many minutes this season. He is improving on almost every later. Has so far in the short stint we have seen him in the regular season and did in the preseason.

Much like the rebuild will go, slowly but sure surely just chug along, Jarrett Allen will too.

Not to say he will ever be the face of the franchise, there are always a lot of moving parts. It is also rare that title goes to a big man this day in age.

Plus, D’Angelo deserves more time to prove it is him.

But, at the end of the day, this rebuild is set up for the team to emerge one day. They might have accidentally discovered gold in Jarrett Allen.

If he continues to improve his game, and his specialty becomes defense and three points shooting, even just long-range, that is a formula that will work well.

The Nets need to start finding their next “star.” It has been one of the things they have painfully lacked for a long time now.

This could be the year where things start coming together.

Just don’t be surprised if Allen starts winning over the fan base and the league.

He is not just part of the rebuild. he could end up being what they were building for this whole time.

Game-by-game, see how he improves. It’s imperative the Nets have an in-house star to win over free agents anyway.
