The New York Knicks fired on all cylinders in their first win, but Allonzo Trier, in particular, stood out in a great way.

Despite the fact that we have only seen him play in the New York Knicks preseason games and opening night of the regular season, it’s becoming clear that Allonzo Trier will be a big part of the bright future at Madison Square Garden.

Trier made his NBA debut Wednesday night at The Garden, scoring 15 points while going 5-9 from the field in 26 minutes in a Knicks win over the Atlanta Hawks.

He looked every bit as impressive as he did in the preseason, showing his scoring ability and why he has earned the nickname “Iso Zo”.

Will he eventually come down and even make some mistakes? Of course he will.

He is a rookie and all rookies are bound to make mistakes at some point. He will not always perform how he did on opening night, especially since the Hawks are not one of the better teams in the Association.

But, the Knicks have to be feeling pretty good about signing Trier as an un-drafted free agent. He has shown that he can be scoring punch off the bench that this team has desperately needed for a long time.

Of course, it is only one regular season game into his career.

Nobody wants to get ahead of themselves when evaluating players such as Trier.

He is so young and even though he has played well in the preseason and against the Hawks, you just don’t know about these guys until further in their careers when they develop more.

It’s extremely weird for Knicks fans like myself to have some type of hope.

It’s foreign to us because we have had so many years of disappointment. And maybe this season will be another year of the same old Knicks.

Next. Playoffs? The Knicks did win a game. dark

But for right now, with the young talent the Knicks have, it’s hard not to get excited about the future. And even though Kevin Knox and Mitchell Robinson were both draft picks for the Knicks this year, Allonzo Trier may just be the most impressive rookie out of all of them.
