Jason  Myers, Kicking Machine

Kickers don’t receive the love very often, but in this case it is absolutely deserving.

As good as the Jets offense was, and it was good, it didn’t score many touchdowns. The Jets put up points when they were needed, but only two drives for the offense ended in touchdowns.

They had to keep their lead in the game somehow. They did on the leg of Jason Myers, aka the Kicking Machine.

Myers had the game of his life, going 7-7 on field goals, breaking a franchise record that stood since 1972. Seven field goals in one game by Myers. That leg probably needed a lot of ice.

You might think that giving credit to Myers here isn’t worth it but think again. If a couple of those kicks were missed, this game stays a one score game for a lot longer.

If that happened, the result may have been very different.

The Jets were only 1-6 in the red zone. The kicker needed to pick them up and he did exactly that.

Next week, the Jets play host to the Minnesota Vikings to end the three-game home stand.
