New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning believes that he can still play at a high-level. However he should admit that he’s lost it and retire.

The Eli Manning led New York Giants lost to the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday night and are now 1-5 on the season.

It seems to be another lost season, after going 3-13 last year.

So, who’s to blame for the Giants horrible season?

Many people are putting the blame on Giants quarterback Eli Manning. I don’t think that Eli should get all the blame but he is part of the problem.

However, Manning’s teammates have a problem with his performance as sever players have expressed frustration with Manning’s performance behind closed doors, sources told Jordan Raanan of ESPN.

The Giants top receiver Odell Beckham Jr. questioned if Big Blue had a quarterback problem in an interview with ESPN’s Josina Anderson:

"“I don’t know. Like I said, I feel like he’s not going to get out the pocket. He’s not — we know Eli’s not running it. But is it a matter of time issue? Can he still throw it? Yeah, but it’s been pretty safe, and it’s been, you know … cool catching shallow [routes] and trying to take it to the house. But I’m, you know, I want to go over the top of somebody.”"

The Giants ended up fining Beckham for his comments, according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports.

Despite the criticism Manning still thinks that he can play. Manning told Kevin Patra of NFL.com:

"“My confidence in myself is good. I know I can play. I just have to figure out how to be more consistent and be better on offense.”"

Coach Pat Shurmur isn’t worried about Eli. He told Patra:

"“No, I’m not concerned about Eli. Like I said, none of us did anything good enough to win tonight. We believe in Eli.”"

Eli, I know you think that you can still play, buts it’s time to admit that you don’t have it anymore.

You’re an aging quarterback and there’s no shame in admitting that you can’t play like you’ve won two Super Bowls anymore.

Brett Favre didn’t play like the great quarterback that he is when he played for the New York Jets and Minnesota Viking after playing with the Green Bay Packers and Derek Jeter didn’t perform at a high-level in his final season as a New York Yankee.

This season, Manning has completed 71.7 percent of his passes, which is a career-high, thrown for 1,662 yards and six touchdowns and has a career-high passer rating of 90.1.

Eli is 32nd in the NFL with an average of 10.31 yards per completion, 27th with a touchdown on 3.2 percent of his pass attempts and is 29th among quarterbacks with a 7.02 air yards per attempt.

Since winning his second Super Bowl title in the 2011 season, Eli is 43-58 in the regular season and 0-1 in the playoffs. The Giants are 34-52 over the last five seasons and have lost 18 of their last 22 overall.

Eli, you need to admit that you can’t play at a high-level anymore and don’t think of it as a bad thing because you can retire at the end of the season.
