New York Knicks or Brooklyn Nets, who will be the better team?
By Sam Friedman
Who wins more games this year?
It’s hard to stay unbiased as a Knicks fan in this situation.
I just don’t like the Nets as the pesky little brother franchise. This is a Knicks town, that will never change.
With that being said, the Nets will, however, most likely end up with a better record than the Knicks. The Knicks are just too inexperienced, and the Nets are too deep across the board.
The Nets play to the new NBA style. They took the second most threes last year. They had the 20th best percentage, but the idea is still there.
With the players they have, they need to spread the floor.
The Knicks finished at the bottom of the league in both of these categories. Without the long ball, it creates spacing issues, and low flow to the offense.
The Nets were also extremely good at moving the basketball, leading to a top 10 ranking in assist percentage. The constant ball movement keeps defenses off-balance and tired. Without a lot of fire power, the Nets ball movement exploits favorable match ups.
The Knicks are more temperamental than the Nets are. They could play well if everything pans out perfectly.
Also, they could compete horrendously poor as well. The Nets are more balanced, not going to knock anyone’s socks off, and understand their expectations.
For that reason, I pick the Nets to finish with a better record than the Knicks.
