Who’s in goal?

Once again the Devils find themselves in a situation where Cory Schneider, the guy who the Devils want to be the number one goalie, is injured and out.

Also, once again we will all learn how well of a consolation prize Keith Kinkaid is for them.

The dilemma is not who replaces Cory. That is obviously Kinkaid. The question is what to do when Cory is ready to come back?

It will likely not be long without Cory, but if Keith Kinkaid lights it up in the season opener and the few games after that, the Devils would need to ride the hot hand, right?

That is likely the case. The Devils answered this question last season with the playoffs where both goalies saw playing time.

Also, since both goalies have spent time injured in the pass, Eddie Lack was brought back to be even more insurance.

We know Lack will never get significant time as a starter, but he will be in between the pipes a few times.

The writing on the wall says Cory Schneider is likely going to be the team’s goalie whenever he can be.

Keith Kinkaid will be if he continues to keep missing significant time.

But, the goalie for the Devils is Cory Schneider.
