For the first time in franchise history, the New York Yankees will be facing off against their arch-rival Boston Red Sox in the Divisional Series.

After a 7-2 win against the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday night, the New York Yankees punched their ticket to Boston for a date with the Red Sox in the American League Division Series.

Surprisingly enough, this will be the first time the Yankees and Red Sox have faced off against each other in the Divisional Series. Of course, they have faced off multiple times in the ALCS yet, never the ALDS.

There is a lot of history between the Yankees and Red Sox when it comes to the playoffs so we are surely in for a treat over the next five games.

There was Aaron Boone’s moonshot, the bloody sock, Alex Rodriguez’s slap, and much, much more in the most recent history between these two rivals.

This being said, you can expect to see a moment or two which we will talk about decades from now.

Who knows who will be the next playoff hero, will it be Aaron Judge in his first playoff series against the Red Sox?

Will it be Giancarlo Stanton in his first playoff series of his career?

Or could it be someone like Luis Severino when he takes the mound?

We have no way of knowing that. But, what we do know is that we are in for a wild ride over the next week. Yankees vs. Red Sox is the best thing in all of baseball and we are lucky enough to bare witness.

With that, let’s take a look at the series game by game and get some predictions from the Empire Writes Back experts.
