The New York Knicks are the only basketball team in New York that plays in the center of Manhattan, what would happen if they won?

The New York Knicks are not going to win a championship this season. Right now their odds to win are +10000. For the non-betting folk, this means that, if you bet $100, you win $10,000. If you’re feeling like flushing $100 down the toilet, bet on the Knicks this season.

The Knicks are the biggest team in New York. You can sit in the comment section, and argue that the Yankees have 27 World Series and have to split New York with the Mets. The Giants may have the best fan base, but they also split fans with the Jets. Rangers/Islanders, Red Bulls/NYCFC have the same problem. Buffalo and Syracuse are too far away.

No team in New York would get the reaction the Knicks would if they took home a championship. You can argue that the Nets take some fans away from the Knicks. But no true New Yorker is a Net fan. They will always be the little brother.

What happens if they win?

From James Dolan all the way down, the Knicks have been one of the worst franchises in sports over the last few decades.

The retired jerseys are so few and far between, that they had to give Billy Joel a rafter space.

The amount of disappointment from the Knicks have led to people leaving the team.

Despite that, they are the most valuable NBA franchise. The Knicks play in the most famous arena in basketball. It’s in the running for the most important arena/field/stadium in all of sports.

MSG has the highest prices for tickets, beer, food, you name it. People still pay it. No other franchise has that kind of loyalty. They rank in the top half in the NBA in both Facebook and Twitter followers.

Every year, Knicks fans come into the season with a huge head of optimism. The team is good until November, and then the wheels fall off. But, year after year, the fans are still loyal to the team.

Can you remember a time in New York that was more electric than when Linsanity was making headway? There’s nothing like that, in all of sports.

If the Knicks won a championship, the city would have to shut down for at least two weeks. The team has been through so much turmoil since the late 90s, early 2000s, that people would have to shut down their offices and stores.

The parade would be the most anticipated day in New York. The Knicks embody the grit of New York, and brings communities together under one large umbrella.

If the Knicks ever won a championship, which may never happen, New York would explode.
