The month we have all been waiting for is here, it is finally October and with October, there is the New York Yankees AL Wild Card Game.

Tonight, the New York Yankees will put their season on the line as they face off against the A’s in the AL Wild Card Game, let’s take a look.

It’s the day we’ve all been waiting for, today the New York Yankees face off against the Oakland Athletics for the right to continue their season.

The Yankees and Athletics have faced off six times this season, splitting the season series at three games a piece.

More from New York Yankees

The first time, these teams faced off was in New York as the Yankees managed to take two of the three games, yet the two tied at 18-18 when it came to scoring in the series.

In that series, we saw tonight’s Wild Card game starter, Luis Severino, take the mound.

Severino went six strong innings to go along with seven strikeouts on only five hits and one earned run. The Yankees came out of this game with a 6-2 win as Luis Severino’s record improved to 6-1.

The second series against Oakland did not go quite as well as the Yankees lost the series two games to one by a score of 15-10.

In this series, we also saw Luis Severino take the mound in the third game, but he did not have the outing he had the first time around.

This time Severino lasted only 2.2 innings with five earned runs on six hits. The Yankees went on to lose this game by a score of 8-2 putting Severino’s record at 17-7.

Let’s hope the Severino from the first game against Oakland shows up tonight, but none-the-less, lets take a look at the game, and take a look at some of what the Empire Writes Back team thinks will happen/
