Trier vs. Dotson

Allonzo Trier and Dotson, will rage in an ongoing battle for the Knicks throughout the season. Which one of these players is the right fit? The minutes are most likely going to be allotted to only one of them.

With Ntilikina, Burke, Knox, Mudiary and Hardaway Jr. above them on the depth chart (for now) it will be hard times to manufacture minutes. Fizdale also believes in position less basketball, so we should expect Knox to play down at shooting guard occasionally.

I have a personal vendetta against Trier, as he thinks that he is better than he actually is. Late in the fourth last night, Trier took Devin Robinson off the dribble to the hoop. The finish was nice, but this came after dribbling the air out of the ball.

Robinson was completely sagged off, leaving Trier the option to shoot, which he did not. Watching him at Arizona and last night, he just isn’t a team first guy. Maybe, I’m wrong.

Dotson however, is the most team first guy. His ever popular hashtag, “#wholeteamdot” has caught on to other players in the locker room. Dotson’s energy is contagious on the Knicks, and is a rare find for the Knicks front office.

Last night, Dotson propelled the Knicks to victory. He set up two corner threes for Ron Baker and aforementioned, Trier. He ran beautifully off the ball all night, scoring eight of his 14 points in overtime.

This narrative is far from over, but expect to see Trier and Dotson battling for playing time.
