I love Mitchell Robinson

If you asked me two months ago who I am most excited about on the Knicks, I wouldn’t have had an answer. Now, it is clearly how the Knicks’ staff can develop Mitchell Robinson .

During the Knicks open practice, and last night, it is clear that Robinson is a project for Fizdale and company. The highlights that he provides however are spectacular. I hope fans stay patient with Robinson, as he can take a long time to develop.

The perfect example was in last nights game. He checked in with about 6:30 left in the 1st quarter.

Robinson got trapped under the basket on a missed shot, and instead of recovering to defend the hoop, he lunged for the ball. This lead to an easy slam for the formidable, Ian Mahinmi

Over the next four minutes however, Robinson caught an alley-oop off a screen and roll in a half court set. That’s pretty rare.

After, he sprinted the length of the court off a long miss, to catch another oop in transition. Another difficult task for someone who just sat out an entire year.

When he becomes more refined on defense (getting caught out of the paint on drives, half-contesting shots etc.) he is going to turn into a DeAndre Jordan type of player for the Knicks.

All of this makes me extremely excited, including the non-reaction Robinson had during his argument with Markieff Morris .

Morris blatantly called Robinson a *expletive* and the rookie simply shrugged it off, and raised his hands. Nobody’s got time for either Morris twin and their nonsense.
