The New York Knicks squared up with the Washington Wizards in their first preseason match. Who made some notable plays for New York?

On a day with a lot of sports action, the New York Knicks suited up for their first preseason game and the takes were running rampant.

The game generated a lot of buzz on Twitter or other platforms despite it only being a preseason game.

So, the Knicks trotted out their probable starting five to start the year. Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr. Kevin KnoxLance Thomas and Enes Kanter kicked off the Knicks season. The lineup will alter when Kristaps Porzingis returns from injury.

The obvious missing person from the lineup is Frank Ntilikina.

Can’t read too much into this, as Ntilikina looked solid during his 15 minutes of play. He showed great poise in navigating the pick and roll, and knocked down a mid-range jumper. Two pain points of last season.

Noah Vonleh didn’t see a lot of time, which was surprising to me. People compared Vonleh to Chris Bosh coming out of college, which will never let him down. In his limited time, Vonleh produced eight points and five rebounds in just 12 minutes.

His impact on the glass is what is going to affect is playing time. The Knicks ranked in the bottom third in the league in rebounding last year. Kanter consistently crashed the boards by himself last season, Vonleh should help lighten the load.

Back to the contest, the Knicks showed out, winning the game by three points in overtime. There were a lot of good moments for David Fizdale’s squad through the evening. Here are the three biggest takeaways from the preseason shootout.
