Put 2018 in the books!

The final takeaway from the 2018 season is that it is official. The New York Mets season is over. Just another chapter of their history.

We could debate for hours if it was a successful season of not. Was there enough at the end to make it worth our time? Or was it too little too late?

Either way, there is nothing we can do. The season ended how it did and it is time to move on and focus for 2019.

The best thing to do is remember the season, at least as David Wright’s last if all else fails.

Come the winter, everything could look a whole lot different for the Mets. The next general manager could come in and axe the whole team for all we know.

But, that would be their decision. Nothing the fans or any one else can do.

The Mets obviously fell short of their goal, they failed to even come close to a playoff spot.

But in 2018, the Mets got to see Jacob deGrom have a year for the ages, Brandon Nimmo never frowned, David Wright rally back from immense pain to start one last time, and a red-hot start that was fun to witness and like no others before it.

But also in 2018, the Mets won five games in a month, traded away arguably their best closer ever, Jeurys Familia, for almost nothing, and hand foot and mouth disease.

The season is over. That is the takeaway here. Baseball is wonderful for a reason. Even the Mets got to experience all the wildest parts about it.
