Martin wins rushing title in last full season

The New York Jets have not had many NFL legends wear their iconic green and white colors in the past few decades, but one them who did was Curtis Martin.

Martin is an all-time NFL running back, let alone perhaps the best Jets player ever. In 2004, however, the Jets not only made the playoffs, Curtis Martin won the rushing title.

Martin was a workhorse that year and that was what cemented his legacy, more than anything else. With Martin, the Jets had a few of their best seasons ever.

There is a reason why he is in the Jets’ ring of honor and in what ended up being the last time he played a full 16 game season, he won the rushing title in 2004.

Martin would not officially retire until a few seasons later and the end of his career saw him bombarded with injuries. He played 12 games the year following year in 2005, but with limited success.

So, 2004 ended up being his last hurrah, and he had one of the best seasons of his career. He still played his last season as the active leading rusher all-time, but it was his last hurrah in that 2004 season that saw huge personal success.

Curtis Martin will go down as the best Jets running back of all-time. And his career might not of technically ended in top, but when he did give it, he won the rushing title.

Tiger Woods’ last hurrah is similar a lot of downs, but will be remembered for winning. Martin’s career ended with injuries, but that was right after being the best he had been.

Good for Jets to know that the last year Martin could have been great, he was.
