Ewing on the most magical Knicks team in recent history

Okay, many things about the 1999 NBA season was whack. The season being shortened due to a lockout, and Patrick Ewing‘s injury were all bizarre.

Although this also was not technically, Ewing’s last season as a Knick, it is close enough for he was gone a year later. Also, this was the last great accomplishment Ewing did in the orange and blue.

Ewing being on the eight seeded Knick, then having the Knicks team he on get to a finals against a Spurs team that was just beginning one of the sports greatest dynasties, is a great way to go out.

Ewing will be remembered as probably the best Knick ever.

However, his last few seasons, aside from the 1998-1999 one did not go as planned. Ewing did not even end his playing his career with the Knicks.

What makes this list as a great “last hurrah” is that it was his last great hurrah as a Knick.

The Eastern Conference championship banner hanging in the rafter forever can be remembered to this day. Arguably, even the last great season the Knicks have ever had.

One could even argue, that the Knicks still have not recovered from Ewing leaving. But the fact that in one of his last season’s they had a magical run to almost accomplish something great, is a perfect way for a great Knick to end his Knick career.

This is like Tiger playing in one last Tournament, but not winning, most people will remember his last win towards the end. That is what Ewing’s Knicks career is like. Maybe not technically the end, but close enough.
