Without getting too carried away, the Buffalo Bills might be the best team in football and Josh  Allen is the best QB to ever step foot on the gridiron. All jokes aside, the Bills shocked the world Sunday by winning in Minnesota.

The Buffalo Bills would be screwed without Josh Allen. Even with him, they went into Minnesota as 17 point underdogs.

And with things I’m about to get into, they left Minnesota as 21 point winners. You would probably have to go far back in history to find a swing that drastic.

So, the biggest question is how did the team, dubbed by some as the worst in the NFL, go into the stadium of one of the final four teams from last year and absolutely throttle them?

More from Empire Writes Back

The answer to that question is simple. Great defense and a QB who played to win the game.

It is a simple formula, folks. Having a solid defense that does not cost you games and having a QB who plays games to win and carry his team is what wins in the NFL. It is not the perfect formula, but close.

On Sunday, a Sunday which I still cannot believe happened, Josh Allen, put the NFL on notice. He put his team on his back and got it done.

He literally hurdled a dude to get a first down in the middle of the game. He leaped over the goal line to punch it in himself on a fourth down. He also ran and extended to give himself one more.

He did everything on Sunday to justify his number seven draft selection. He made it look easy too. He showed athleticism and took chances I have not seen from a Bills QB in a long, long time, that includes Tyrod Taylor.

The Bills defense was great too. The Vikings couldn’t even cross midfield and into the Bills’ territory until some point in the second half.

The Bills did everything right and then some to win a game that they had no business even playing close in.

I still cannot believe that sentence is true. “The Bills did everything right and then some to win a game” that is crazy.

That sentence is for sure nothing like the team that failed to show up for the first six quarters of this season.

It is for sure nothing a Bills team led by Nathan Peterman, Thadeus Lewis, EJ Manuel, Tyrod Taylor, or anyone they have had in the last decade seemed to have an interest in doing.

Josh Allen dazzled.

He dazzled in the pre-season and he has dazzled in the regular season so far when given the chance.

The absolute best thing about it all? That this was one of the toughest tests Allen will see this year. He passed a difficult test with flying colors.

Allen is also already taking many other test too because not only is the team around Allen, talent wise that is, alarmingly lackluster, but he is also a rookie QB.

Being a rookie QB comes with natural learning curves. Even a rookie placed in the best possible situation will have some games where he just struggles.

Throw that onto having a poor team around him all the time, and he is learning how to overcome two things in one season.

Look at Russell Wilson now. Still one of the better QBs in the league, but the talent around him has significantly dropped since his rookie year. He is learning how to lead his team on his own.

Russell is a seasoned vet learning how to do that for the Seahawks and Allen is a rookie while also learning how to do that.

Also, Allen, as if this didn’t sound improbable enough, won his first-ever start on the road in the NFL. This was in a stadium that was full of the enemies wild supporters and the most recent one to host a Super Bowl.

It is not easy for any QB, at any point, to win on the road, Allen did in his first chance.

He was responsible for all three of his teams TDs, threw for just short of 200 yards, made highlight reel plays, all while overcoming being on the road against a team that is significantly better than any he has ever faced.

This is not me saying he is the second coming of Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady. This is not even me trying to say that the Bills are all of a sudden elite and that this win was not a fluke.

However, Josh Allen is a stellar QB. He has all the credentials to succeed at this level. Although it might not always be pretty, he gets the job done.

He carried the Bills on Sunday. I’ll even go as far as saying he is the main reason they won the game. He and great defense, but Allen got them on the scoreboard.

The Bills beat the Vikings 27-6 in a game where they could have lost by two touchdowns and still beat the betting spread, for those that don’t bet, two TDs is a lot.

So, no one thought the Bills were going to win this game.

However, they did. The Josh Allen era is upon us and the Bills are lucky they get to be the team to test how this goes.

This was not a win where he played to get by. The Bills, led by him, went on the road and dominated a great football team that is better than them any day other than this one. That is not just a win, but a statement win

All teams remember seeing their dubbed “franchise QB” get their first career win.

Next. How should Aaron Boone set his Wild Card game lineup. dark

Well, Bills fans just saw Josh Allen’s first career win and saw him put the league on notice. He should just run for President while he is at. You like that?
