Eli Manning is the New York Giants quarterback for now. But, the Giants need to find his replacement soon because he isn’t playing at a high-level anymore.

The New York Giants started this season with Eli Manning as their QB and had a lot of hope to turn things around after a disastrous 3-13 season last year.

They thought that Eli could still play at a high-level, despite being 37 years old. However, it’s time for the Giants to get a new quarterback.

After losing to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, the Giants are now 0-2. It’s the fifth time in the last six years that they have started 0-2.

The Giants haven’t made the playoffs when they started the season 0-2, so this year could be another disappointing year for Big Blue.

So what’s wrong with the Giants? Could it be Eli or the offensive line?

I don’t think Eli is the problem since he is still good, and while some people think the offensive line is to blame, Manning doesn’t think the Giants struggles are due to the offensive line.

Here’s what Manning told Paul Schwartz of the New York Post:

"“Combination of stuff. There was nothing that we didn’t have an answer for. Enough things might mess up a little bit, it’s a combination of everybody, it’s not just the offensive line. When sacks are happening obviously the offensive line gets blamed most of the time but that’s not necessarily the case. You got running backs, you got quarterbacks, you got receivers, everybody plays a part in that.’’"

Manning told Michael Eisen of Giants.com that everyone is learning and that they have to learn and get better and make improvements. One improvement that needs to be made is at quarterback.

The Giants need a new quarterback.

Before the season began, I thought that Eli could still play at a high-level. However, I might have been wrong as the struggles from last year have carried over to this year.

This became apparent on Sunday when he completed 33 of 44 passes for 279 yards and a touchdown. While that’s not bad, Manning was also sacked six times.

The six sacks were the most Eli has been sacked since October 2014. It looks to me that Eli has lost it and can’t play at a high-level anymore, which is why the Giants need a new quarterback.

Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News believes that Manning had regressed enough last year that the Giants need to get their quarterback of the future now. I agree with Leonard because Eli might not have that much time left to play football.

Back in April, the question was were the Giants going to pick Manning’s replacement in the draft or pick someone who wasn’t a quarterback?

They ended up drafting running back Saquon Barkley and that was a mistake. Barkley hasn’t been very productive so far and the Giants could have gotten a young quarterback to be Eli’s successor and build a team around him, but decided not to do so.

Manning isn’t getting any younger and will continue to not be as good as he is now as he gets older. That’s way they should have gotten a quarterback in the draft.

The Giants need to accept the fact the while Eli is still good, he’s not as good as he was before and they need to find his replacement now.

Saquon is not Sam Darnold and shouldn't be compared to him. dark. Next

The draft is where Manning’s replacement needs to come from so that the Giants can build a team around a young quarterback. The Giants need a new quarterback because Eli just doesn’t have it anymore.
