Jimmy  Vesey

Vesey has raised some question in New York up until this point. It’s not that he has been a disappointment – just more so not quite enough.

The Hobey Baker winning scholar out of Harvard was the hottest free agent signing of the 2016 off season and he hasn’t seemed to make the big splash we all expected.

In 159 NHL games, Vesey has logged 55 points. Not quite the dominant net filler he was when wearing Crimson.

He’ll go on long droughts without a goal then one night shows up and scores two in a period… pretty streaky if you ask me.

He has all the potential you can ask for it just hasn’t clicked for him yet. The Rangers showed they believe that is about to happen as they locked him in for another two years in July.

We have seen moments with Vesey where he finds ways to be in the right places at the right times and scores a clutch goal here and there, but there needs to be more from him considering the expectations.

Next. The King can be the King once again. dark

Some think that he is a “bust” because he hasn’t been quite the difference maker we expected right out of the gate, but that is just intolerance for the development of what could be a key piece of this team.

The restricted free agent signed a two-year $4.55 million contract which says that he is on a short leash in New York, but the Rangers still trust he can make an impact.

That impact must be this year and that is why I think he will be a key player to watch this season. It is do or die for Jimmy Vesey in the pressures of the big apple.
