More from Empire Writes Back

Chytil is a player we will all have our eyes on closely right from the get-go this year. He has massive scoring potential and can provide some kick for the top six forward group.

Chytil, who was drafted 21st overall in the 2017 NHL Draft, only just turned 19 years old. The Rangers played him in 9 games last season, the maximum games you can play without burning a year of an entry-level contract.

He recorded 3 points in those games and spent 48 games with the Hartford Wolfpack, where he posted 31 points.

In my opinion, this rebuild relies heavily on the progress of Chytil. If he can adapt and be the breakout scorer the Rangers need him to be only as a rookie, I think the team will be in good shape in terms of the rate of their rebuild.

I can’t remember the last time the Rangers had a standout rookie scorer, and I mean someone that can really turn heads in the NHL. Yes we’ve had Derek Stepan, Ryan McDonagh and even recently Brady Skjei as rookie standouts, but I mean someone who is a league-wide threat as a rookie.

If there is anything I’d like to see this year, it’s a blueshirt in contention for the Calder Trophy, and I think as of this moment, Chytil is our best bet.
